Day 12 - 3 July - Banff

Day 12 - 3 July - Banff

We turned what was supposed to be an easy 64km day into 90km. We did not see Lake Louise or the Contenintial Divide so we doubled back to see them. I did not realize that the road to Lake Louise was so steep! It was four kms of about 8% grade! Not the way I wanted to start the day! It was beautiful but, there we so many people there!

We moved on to the divide where the two streams go to the Pacific and the Artic oceans. It was way cool but, the old number 1 highway was not maintained and it was very slow going.

Once we were back on track to Banff, it was mid morning. We took the alternate road which was much quieter and scenic. The rolling hills were very easy to ride.
Castle Mountain was very impressive. I loved how rugged it looked.

We stopped at Johnston Canyon to see the falls but there were too many people there. We had lunch and left.
There were so many people in Banff that we decided to go straight to the campsite.
